How do I get my brand mentioned in ChatGPT?

By Tai Orser, Founder of Endoxic  ·  Updated October 4, 2026

Short answer

ChatGPT names brands it can find, understand and trust. Let OpenAI's search crawler read your site, state the same clear facts about your business everywhere, answer your buyers' questions directly, and earn mentions on the sites ChatGPT already cites.

1. Let OpenAI's search crawler in

ChatGPT's search features rely on a crawler called OAI-SearchBot. OpenAI states that sites which block OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers, and that changes to robots.txt take about 24 hours to apply. Blocking GPTBot, OpenAI's separate training crawler, does not remove you from ChatGPT search.

2. Make your facts consistent

AI hedges when sources disagree. Your name, what you sell, who you serve and your prices should read the same on your website, your business listings, your profiles and directories.

3. Publish pages that answer questions directly

Write one page per real buyer question. Put a short, direct answer first, then the detail. Clear, quotable sentences are easier for AI to repeat accurately.

4. Add structured data

Structured data (schema.org markup) states in a machine-readable way who you are, what you offer and how much it costs, so answer engines do not have to guess.

5. Earn mentions where AI looks

ChatGPT tends to recommend brands that other trusted sources already mention: industry publications, reputable directories, reviews and comparison articles. Being cited there matters as much as your own website.

6. Check the answers every month

Ask ChatGPT the questions your buyers ask, record whether you are named and how you are described, and track how that changes. No one can guarantee placement in an AI answer; consistent measurement shows whether the work is moving you.
